Week 4: ALOHA from Mililani!

 Aloha kākou and hello everyone!

I have now finished my first week in my first mission assignment! I was assigned to the Mililani 2nd ward in the central Oahu, Mililani zone. It has been so great so far and I can't wait to tell you all about it.

The day after last p-day(last Thursday) we taught a lesson with a girl named Heather. I had a prompting while prepping that we should be prepared to teach about families. I didn't think too much about it until we got to teaching her. Her mom died when she was little, is the youngest of her 5 older brothers, and is really close to her dad. She was wondering about her purpose in life and I'd she can come closer to God. We basically knew exactly what she needed to know based on the prompting I got and we answered her questions. So in short... never ignore a prompting!

I was really sad to leave my district but I'm sure I'll see them again. I do miss Elder Owen as my companion though. He was a great friend as well as missionary companion. But I now have a new trainer Elder Clapper! I'll get to him in a minute.

After we flew into Honolulu, we met with the mission president, President Walker. He and his wife took us to a special place on a hill called tantalus where the first missionaries built an altar to consecrate the mission. We all prayed that the Lord would help us on our mission.

My first night in Oahu I spent with 3 other new missionaries in an apartment. Then on Tuesday me and Elder Clapper drove to our newly refurbished blue pad(Hawaiian apartments are called pads).

I've met so many people both in the ward and on the street. Our first day we made friends with a nonmember named Larry. He was outside in his garage fixing his car. Since we talked to him, we were able to call him a new investigator or new friend. We saw him again just the other day to set up an appointment.

I love the Mililani 2nd ward so much and I love my mission even more every day I meet someone new. The Lord asks us to be humble as children, keep his commandments, and feed his sheep. I can already testify that blessings come as we do these things. Our testimonies can be strengthened surprisingly a lot when we take time to serve those around us.

Elder Clapper is so far an amazing companion. He is really patient with me being new and we've shared some really touching experiences already as well as some good laughs. Don't tell him I said this, but so far he's gotten us in 2 car accidents 😂 nothing major but needless to say it's been one h*ck of a week.

I love you all so much and I can't wait to see what happens this next week. I have a feeling the lord has some surprises in store.
Aloha!
