Week 38: New Book of Mormon, Miracle Finding!

On set of "The Easter Video:2022" 😅
Aloha!

This week had some pretty interesting experiences for me.

In the last few weeks I've been trying to find my copy of the Book of Mormon. I've used it personally for years and it's the copy that I've used for reading the entirety of the book while on my mission. Needless to say, it's pretty dear to me and has a ton of markings that have helped me teach countless times. Well one day I prayed and asked for some miracles. I wanted to be able to teach like I usually can from the Book of Mormon and to find some new people to teach.

Well this week I've received answers to these prayers! I felt that while I'm still looking for my copy, I've started a new one. It's been really great going through it and marking scriptures that are important to me and I've found are really great to teach with! So far it's been working really well!

Another miracle! I was looking through older records of people that have been by missionaries in our area. One of the only people who actually have an address listed (most people don't respond if we call or text😅) so I just decided we should stop by and see if he's interested in hearing from us. So we went to his house and met him! He was actually really happy to see us! He said he was just about to leave and see a movie with his son but he wants us to text him about a time we could come back. When I got back in the car I went berserk 🤣 It was so amazing! We're going back to see him soon and I only hope for the best 👌

Me and Elder Chan posted an Easter video that looks at some of the sights around Hawaii so check it out if you have a chance!

I had some other really great experiences this week while finding and teaching people, having the Book of Mormon class, and stopping by some old friends like Barry! But the best part of my week is just the reminder that God knows us and He answers our prayers.

One of my favorite scriptures is from the Pearl of Great Price. It's Moses 1:39 "For behold,  this is my work and my glory-to bring to pass the immortality and eternal life of man."
I can be confident as a missionary that right now, I'm doing the Lords greatest work. If there's something I need to help me with His work, then He'll give it to me.

Hope you all had a great week! Message me with any questions, comments, concerns, or anything. See ya!

P.s. Another highlight of my week was I got to play basketball with Elder Owen!

Week 36/37: Transfer News, The Work Moves on, General Conference!

On exchange with my zone leader Elder Caldwell.

Aloha everyone!

These last couple weeks have been great!(Which is something I always say but is nonetheless true)

General conference this last Saturday and Sunday was amazing! There were so many great themes that were present in their messages. Missionary work, hope, showing love to others, and having "spiritual momentum."

The first session of conference I watched with Elder Chan and the rest of the Sisters in h-tech. It was ironic that one of the first talks that was given talked about missionaries and using technology. Hey! That's exactly what we do! Haha!

Another funny experience during general conference was during Elder Uchtdorf's talk. Now I'm not sure how much each of you know about this certain apostle, but a fun fact about him is that he's basically obsessed with airplanes. He was a pilot in the air force and mentions it frequently in his talks.
Well a fun fact about Elder Chan is that he really likes Mountain Dew. So I told Elder Chan, "If Elder Uchtdorf doesn't mention planes at all in his talk, I will buy you a mountain dew." (Not on the sabbath though. Another day) And sure enough, he started talking about bikes and then about flying airplanes🤣. The whole room erupted in applause. It was glorious.

In preparation for General Conference, we made a video inviting people to watch and briefly talking about what it was. Well that video took a lot longer to make than I thought and it literally took me a whole day to edit! But the video came out really good and it did really well when we put it out.

We've had some great member lessons recently. We've had dinner with Ben and Michael and taught them an object lesson of repentance, and tons of other members. I really love having dinner with members. One of my favorite things to do is to get closer with member families. It helps missionary work way more than a lot of people think.

Transfer news: I will be staying with Elder Chan in h-tech! We have a new sister in the group with us and we're super excited. For some reason this transfer is 7 weeks. Additionally, by the end of this transfer I will have been in h-tech for 6 months! I'm so glad I've been able to be in h-tech for this long.

Miracles!
-We got to teach Auntie Cindy the Restoration of the Gospel! She found it really interesting and new. We invited her to read the Book of Mormon and to pray and ask if it's true and she said she would.
- While we were walking around the park, we met a couple who were willing to hear a scripture. They also asked how the Book of Mormon is related to the Bible. So we got to explain to her how they confirm each other and how some events coincide. They weren't interested enough to take a copy of the Blue Book 😅 but that's ok. Planting seeds.
- Me and Elder Chan were able to speak at a baptism for a boy in our ward! Also earlier last Sunday, me and Elder Chan lost track of the days and thought it was Easter. Hehe. Good thing we remembered before we gave our remarks. It was so awesome though. I love attending baptisms.

I'm really excited for Easter this year. I hear the Easter Bunny lines the streets of Honolulu with Cadbury eggs so that will be something to look forward to😆. Holidays really do pass by quickly.

Well that's all I have to report. General conference was great, saw some great miracles, and have a choke ton of people that could be taught the lessons soon. Please pray for Auntie Cindy, Kevin, Les, and Christine. We're seeing more progression and prayers would be greatly appreciated.

Have a great week! Love you all!
