Hey Everyone!
I've completed a full week of MTC and every single part about it has been fantastic. Time passes so differently when you're learning by the spirit 24/7. And for that I have my teachers and my amazing district to thank. Friendship seems to come by seamlessly when we're all in the same place and for the same reason. If there's one thing about the MTC I've experienced that was the most surprising to me, is how at ease I feel here. With the Holy Ghost at my side, I never feel like I'm not supposed to be here.
Last week I briefly said that me and my companion Elder Owen were made zone leaders for our districts. That basically means that we're in charge of making sure all the elders are following the rules in the dorms, making sure no one is having any problems, and planning Sunday meetings. Our district is the small group of Elders and Sisters that go to class together.
One thing missionaries do in the MTC is called helping others where we start teaching 30 minute lessons to people over zoom. Me and Elder Owen's first lesson was with a guy named Rian H. The lesson went really well and we briefly explained our reason for being on the earth. One fun fact about Helping Others is that there's a 50/50 chance you're either teaching to am actual nonmember, or a member acting like one. We could immediately tell he was a member and he actually acted really well. But even then, we could still feel the spirit there and I believe all that came from us beginning to teach about Jesus Christ.
The main theme of what the devotionals of this week were about was teaching and testifying of the Savior Jesus Christ. We were promised in our classes, when we taught, lessons, and at our devotionals that if we testify of Jesus Christ and his role in our lives, that would mean way more to the people we teach than hours and hours of church history.
I'm so privileged to be seen wearing Jesus Christ's name on my name tag for 2 years. It gives so much purpose to my life and how I live it. I testify that if we take the name of Jesus Christ upon ourselves, he will not leave us alone. All things can be accomplished through faith in Jesus Christ.
Some other activities I've been doing is being apart of the MTC choir and singing a medley at the Tuesday devotional. That was really fun and the speakers were Elder Douglas of the 70 and his wife. On Tuesday I got to do service vacuuming the floor in the lobby while Elder Owen used a huge, Ghostbuster backpack looking vacuum to clean the already spotless furniture. I was pretty jealous.
Then just today was another p-day. We went running in the morning but I got another bloody nose haha *ahem*. And I'm actually writing this in a basketball gym so I'm going to head out.
I love you and miss you all so much!
Thanks for your never-ending support and I'll see you next week!
Remember all things are possible through faith.
Love, Elder Nielsen
