Week 20: H-tech law enforcement, transfers, and Christmas parties

Elder Thompson took a picture of me and it made me realize I hardly post pictures of myself on my weekly's🤣.

Aloha everyone!

You would think that knowing me I'd would already love Christmas in Hawaii. Well so far it's the best, but as a missionary it is so much cooler than I ever thought possible!

So first things first, me and Elder Thompson are staying in h-tech serving in Kahala for another awesome 6 weeks! I have a really good feeling about this next transfer. We are making really good progress with Barry and some videos are in preparation.

This last Sunday was the Come and See devotional. It was such a success! A lot of investigators and new friends came to the event so the turnout was great. There were a lot of friends from Mililani there! The Strain family was there and so was Roy, one our other friends! The actual event was so spiritually inviting and beautiful. One of the musical performances was sung by the primary kids in our Kahala ward. They include some very young kids who all seem to want the mic😅. Then the speakers included some very powerful conversion stories that had powerful testimonies. Then President and Sister Walker brought down the house with one of the most inspirational talks I've ever heard! You could just tell that someone's prayers were answered during that meeting including my own!

We also had our ward Christmas party on Saturday evening and it was a blast! Barry and Randall were there! Randall didn't stay for the whole time🤣 but Ben and Michael were there as well and they both had a fun time. Elder Thompson played the violin at the party and at church the next day. He is so good! I hope we make a video with him playing violin because he's really good!

Now for the h-tech part. So one of my responsibilities in h-tech is we have to audit the posts put out by the mission. Sister Walker made a list of posting standards for social media posts to match mission standards. This week we had to reach out to some missionaries who made a post that wasn't bad at all, but didn't really follow mission posting standards. They kind of argued which made it kind of difficult. I love mission videos. Before my mission, I watched some mission videos to get excited and they were so inspiring! And I totally agree with the posting standards we have, but it's really hard to be the enforcer of the rules. I don't want to seem higher above anyone else or say that a video is bad. We are all given talents and I have loved seeing the videos put out by Elders and Sisters all around the mission. But as ordained missionaries, this technology we have is used to serve and not for our own fun.

That was a little long, but I'm really glad that I'm able to serve in h-tech. It's been so fun and a great way to reach out to do the Lord's work.

Hope you all have a great week! Merry Christmas and let me know if there's anything I can do for anyone! I'll keep you in my prayers!

Love, Elder Nielsen
