Week 9: Movies, transfers, and more miracles!

 Hey Everyone! Aloha kākou!

This week was pretty great! We had some cool exchanges (meaning I got to do missionary work with a different companion) and we got news for the new transfer!

First and foremost, I cannot believe that today I've now spent an entire six weeks serving in Mililani! I mentioned in my letter to the Mission President that the only uncomfortable thing about the mission was how quickly time passes!

I've gotten to go on exchange with Ekder Hayes who gets off his mission in 3 days! The whole day consisted of meal and lesson appointments and dropping by members whom Elder Hayes wanted to say goodbye to. It really made me realize how close a relationship he has with Mililani 2nd ward. Before I got there he was serving there for 10 months! He even got to go out with me and Brother Durrett to visit John Sullivan. Elder Hayes was the original Elder who met John and the goodbye led to all of us giving hugs.

He's learned so much from serving the ward. So after all the appointments and we were driving home I asked him for his advice. "Love yourself and love the people you serve." is what he told me.

A lot of people in my ward work in movies made around Hawaii and it's kinda freaky. There are three people in my ward who work on movie sets.
Patrick was a set medic for Jurrassic Park and now works on NCIS.
Mike is a director of photography(camera guy)
And Pono works as a transportation guy. (He drove Jason Statham around for Hobbs And Shaw.)

And now for the transfer news...I'm going to......MILILANI! 😅 yeah I'm staying here with Elder Clapper since I'm still in training. But I'm honestly so excited for this next transfer. We're getting really trusted in the ward family and I can't wait to see what work we accomplish!

A really cool experience that I had this week was on another exchange with Elder Lake. We had lessons with some friends in the area. We actually got to teach this one lady from Peru who spoke Spanish so I got to practice my Español😁
And then we met with three investigators who are from Pompeii. It's an island next to Chuk in the Marshall Islands. We taught them the plan of salvation that really invited the spirit and they were really engaged. Then one of them who's name was Ryle asked for a blessing for him and his families health especially his fathers. Then he also asked for help to love other people who hate him. It kinda caught me off guard, but we gave him a blessing and he said it really helped.

It reminded me as a kid when we were taught the commandments given by the Savior.

27. But I say unto you which hear, Love your enemies, do good to them which hate you, 28. Bless them that curse you, and pray for them which despitefully use you.

It didn't quite sit well at first. I have to love people who hate me? Why? Well to put it simply, because the Savior did. Our main goal on this earth is to try to be the best version of ourselves. Our best example is Jesus Christ.

I invite you this week to try to do what Ryle wants to do. Forgive someone that you wouldn't usually forgive. I promise blessings for you and your future.

I hope you guys had a great week! Love you all and if there's anything I can do for you just let me know!

Aloha!

We met a guy who prints shirts for a living. It was pretty sick.

Weekly plan (creepy version?)

1st transfer gone!

Carolina Reaper peppers! 🌶 Don't worry I didn't try one.

More Pics from our Hike last p-day. Can't help but think of Andrew whenever I see some planes. Wish I knew the story behind this one.
